Belhaven Soccer Pounds Ouachita Baptist, 6-0

Jackson, Miss-The Blazers scored early and often in route to a 6-0 victory over Ouachita Baptist University (2-5-1) Wednesday afternoon. Belhaven is now 12-0-1 on the season and is ranked 8th in the latest NAIA Top 25 men's soccer poll. Five of the six Blazer goals would come in the first 45 minutes of play.

Juan Rodriguez would score the first of his two goals on the afternoon in the 13th minute finding the back of the net off the assist from Alan Hannon. Kevin Whittmann took his turn in minute 18 on another assist by Hannon to give the Blazers an earl 2-0 lead. Rodriguez then would get open again for his second goal in the 21st minute and just like that the score was 3-0 Belhaven. Hannon was credited with his third assist on Rodriguez's second goal.
 
Mabior Yai got on the board with his first goal in the 31st minute on an assist by Juan Rodriguez. Curtis young followed that up in minute 40 with the Blazers fifth goal of the game. The score would remain at 5-0 until the 57th minute of the second half when Yai fired in goal number two to make it 6-0.
 
The Blazer defense allowed just one shot on goal the entire game for Ouachita Baptist and only nine shots total for the contest. Belhaven spent most of the match on Ouachita's side of the field firing a total of 21 shots for the game. The goals for Rodriguez were his 11th and 12th on the season which leads the team. The three assists by Hannon give him a total of four on the year.
 
Belhaven returns to action Friday as they take on Lee University beginning at 3 in “The Bowl”. It will be the final regular season home match for the Blazers.
