Five Blazers Earn Mid-South Conference Honors

Louisville, KY-Four Belhaven football players were named to the Mid-South Conference West Division All Conference teams when the awards were recently announced by the MSC.
Senior Defensive End Eric Ortiz and Junior Linebacker Reginald Lumpkin were both selected to the MSC West Division All Conference defensive team. Ortiz led the Blazers in sacks with 8.5 and tallied 13.5 tackles for a loss which was second on the team. He also had 65 total tackles for the Blazers. Lumpkin was tops on the team in total tackles with 97 and had 14 tackles for losses with included 3.5 sacks. Junior defensive end Melvin Dyson rounded out the defensive honorees garnering an MSC-West Division honorable mention. Dyson had 48 total tackles and seven sacks this season.
Senior Center Tyler McNeal and Senior Wide Receiver Anthony Embry were named to the MSC West Division All Conference offensive team. Embry had a team high of 63 receptions for 646 yards. He also averaged 58.7 yards per game and 10.3 yards per catch. Embry grabbed three touchdown passes and was second on the team in all purpose yards at 95 yards per game.
Junior Running Back A.J. Colley from Shorter College was named Offensive Player of the Year and junior linebacker Logan Lollis from Shorter College was picked as the defensive player of the year in the Mid South Conference West division.
