Jackson, MS-Current Belhaven All-American 3rd baseman Tiffany Ansley has been invited to tryout out for the Puerto Rican National Team for the second consecutive year. Ansley will be departing from Miami, FL for Puerto Rico this week with hopes of earning a spot on the team.

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven Athletics department is pleased to announce the 2009 Volleyball schedule. The 2009 season should prove to be an exciting one for the Lady Blazers with a number of experienced returning players and a solid recruiting class. Belhaven will kickoff the year when they host Talladega College and Rust College in the Belhaven Tri-Match August 29th.

Jackson, MS-Junior center fielder Chanse Cooper and senior pitcher/first baseman Craig Westcott of the Belhaven baseball team have come to contract terms after being selected in the Major League Baseball Draft. Cooper was the 632nd pick overall in the 21st round of the draft by the Kansas City Royals and will report to the Royals Rookie League team which is the Idaho Falls Chukars. Westcott was chosen by the San Francisco Giants with the 897th overall pick in the 30th round and is scheduled to report to the Arizona Giants which is San Francisco’s Rookie League Club.

Cooper was the 632nd pick overall in the 21st round of the draft by the Kansas City Royals and Westcott was chosen by the San Francisco Giants with the 897th overall pick in the 30th round. The draft is conducted over a span of three days and is comprised of 50 rounds.
