06.01 | Baseball
Jackson, MS-The Belhaven baseball team had a memorable 2009 season that saw an unprecedented postseason run and a number of outstanding individual accomplishments. The Blazers won the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time since 2004 and made it to the championship game of the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round for the first time in the programs history. Craig Westcott was also selected as the recipient of the 2009 Cellular South Ferriss Trophy making him the top college baseball player in Mississippi as voted on by the Major League Baseball scouts and college coaches.

06.01 | Softball
Jackson, MS-It was a record breaking year for the Belhaven softball team in 2009 as the team broke 26 various national and school records in route to a 36-19 record. The 36 wins by the Lady Blazers sets a new school record for most victories in a season and it was the second time in four years that the previous record has been eclipsed. Belhaven also received votes in the NAIA Top 25 Poll throughout the entire 2009 campaign and has reached at least 30 wins in each of the last four seasons.

06.01 | Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis
Jackson, MS-The Belhaven men’s and women’s tennis teams each saw marked improvements in 2009 under first year head coach Levi Patton. The men’s team finished the year with a 6-12 record which was two wins better than the previous year. The Lady Blazers improved on a 2-7 2008 record by reeling off eight wins this spring and finished with an 8-11 overall record. Then men and the women also made it to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals.

Starkville, MS-Senior Mallory Meadows and senior Britney Webb of the Belhaven softball team earned 2009 Louisville Slugger NFCA All-American honors in the NAIA division when the awards were recently announced by National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Meadows was selected as a First Team All-American while Webb was chosen as a Second Team All-American.

Kansas City, MO- Starting pitcher Craig Westcott and relief pitcher Kyle Medley of the Belhaven baseball team received NAIA All-American recognition when the awards were recently announced by the NAIA. Westcott was named as an NAIA Second Team All-American and Medley was an Honorable Mention in this year’s selections.

Jackson, MS-Four Belhaven softball players earned NFCA All Region Honors when the awards were recently announced by the NFCA. Mallory Meadows, Britney Webb, Tiffany Ansley, and Heather Pace were all recognized by the NFCA for their efforts during the 2009 season. Meadows, Webb, and Pace made the All-Region First Team while Ansley was selected to the All-Region Second Team.

05.26 | Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer
Jackson, MS-The Belhaven Athletics department is pleased to announce the 2009 Men's and Women's soccer schedules. Both teams are coming off successful 2008 campaigns. The Belhaven men finished the 2008 year with a record of 14-4-1 which included a 12 game winning streak and a spot in the NAIA Top 25 rankings. The Lady Blazers completed 2008 with an overall record of 11-7-1 and earned a spot in the GCAC Tourament championship game.
