ATLANTA - The Blazers carried a one-goal lead into halftime, but Oglethorpe scored twice in the second half to defeat the Blazers, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at the Woodruff P.E. Center.

Belhaven created a pair of early chances, with Wyatt Dupre and Ciaran Colvin recording shots inside the opening 10 minutes. Aiden Paz entered the match in the 23rd minute and quickly made an impact. After putting his first attempt wide, Paz gave the Blazers the lead at 28:16 when he scored off an assist from Luke Finley.

Justin Ramirez made his first start of the season in goal and protected the advantage with a save on Jake Duncan-Smith in the 33rd minute. The Blazers took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Belhaven continued to generate chances early in the second half. Graham Harris and Adrian Sanchez both had attempts before the Blazers earned consecutive corner kicks in the 56th and 57th minutes.

Oglethorpe tied the match at 63:14 when Erik Holmen scored off assists from Alex Watson and Nathan Leveque. Ramirez kept the match level with a save on Kenny Griffin in the 81st minute. Griffin broke through just over two minutes later, scoring off a feed from Addofo El Bey to put the Stormy Petrels in front, 2-1.

The Blazers pressed for an equalizer over the closing minutes. Colvin recorded two shots, Belhaven earned a corner kick in the 88th minute and Ricardo Flores had the final attempt with 38 seconds remaining.

Belhaven finished with a 14-11 advantage in shots, including an 8-5 edge in the second half. The Blazers also led 6-4 in corner kicks.

Sanchez and Colvin led Belhaven with three shots apiece. Paz recorded two attempts and scored on the Blazers' lone shot on goal, while Finley picked up the assist. Ramirez played all 90 minutes and finished with two saves.

Belhaven returns home Thursday, Sept. 10, to host LeTourneau at Belhaven Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
