DEMOREST, Ga. - Addi Roberts made nine saves,
McKenzee Gregory supplied an early lead and
Alexis Whiting scored for the third straight match as Belhaven defeated Piedmont 2-0 Saturday at Walker Athletic Complex.
Piedmont pressed from the opening whistle, earning two corner kicks in the first two minutes and forcing a save on Jordyn Harris' shot in the sixth. Roberts stopped Lexie Beitler in the 13th minute, and Gregory, who had come off the bench moments earlier, put the Blazers ahead at 18:06.
The one-goal lead held through halftime despite further saves by Roberts on Adriana Blumer and Beitler. Piedmont kept testing her after the break: Roberts denied Blumer and Gracie Phillips in the first six minutes, then turned away attempts by Keira Ferrera and Madison Johnson as Belhaven protected its advantage.
Whiting gave the Blazers breathing room at 73:59. The sophomore has now scored in each of Belhaven's three CCS matches. Roberts made two more saves in the final three minutes to complete the shutout.
Piedmont held an 18-5 advantage in shots and put 10 on target, but Roberts stopped them all. The Blazers made their chances count, scoring twice on three shots on goal.

Keelin Gray each played all 90 minutes in front of Roberts.
Belhaven won its third straight match and recorded its second consecutive shutout, improving to 4-2-1 overall and 3-0 in CCS play. Piedmont fell to 3-2-1 and 0-1-1 in the conference.
The Blazers return home Thursday, Oct. 1, to host Pensacola State at Belhaven Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
