Box Score 2 LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Belhaven Men's & Women's Tennis teams dropped 4-0 decisions on the road at Asbury, with the match shortened after the team result was decided.
Asbury took early control by sweeping all three doubles courts to secure the opening point.
Jesus Diaz and
Josiah Leggett fell 6-1 at No. 1, while
Harshith Anugonda and
Briley Oakes were defeated 6-0 at No. 2.
Stephen Spencer and
Jack Madden rounded out doubles play with a 6-0 loss at No. 3.
In singles, Belhaven found more competitive footing at the top of the lineup. Anugonda battled at No. 1, pushing his opponent in both sets before falling 7-5, 6-3. Diaz also competed at No. 2 but was unable to break through in a straight-set loss.
Leggett fell at No. 3, while the remaining matches at Nos. 4 through 6 were halted after the match-clinching point was secured.
For the women, Asbury secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2, while the No. 3 doubles match was decided by default.
Millie Gallarno and
Evey Moore fell 6-0 at the top spot, and
Rebekah Nichols and
Arica Eason dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 2.
In singles play, Gallarno and Nichols competed at the top two positions but were both defeated in straight sets. The remaining matches were halted once Asbury clinched the team victory.
