JACKSON, Miss. - The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) released its 2026 Preseason Men's and Women's Tennis polls on Tuesday, with Belhaven University appearing in both rankings as conference play approaches next month.
Belhaven was picked eighth in the 2026 Collegiate Conference of the South Women's Tennis Preseason Poll with 11 points. The Blazers will look to move up the standings as league play unfolds in March.
Defending conference champion Asbury claimed the top spot with 49 points and seven first-place votes after a 13-5 overall season and a CCS Tournament championship in 2025. Piedmont followed closely in second with 43 points and one first-place vote after a 21-3 campaign and an unbeaten regular season in conference play.
Covenant (32 points), Maryville (31), and Huntingdon (27) rounded out the top five, followed by Agnes Scott (16), LaGrange (15), and Belhaven (11).
Conference play begins Saturday, March 7th. The 2026 CCS Women's Tennis Championship will feature the top six teams and will be held April 23-25 at the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
On the men's side, Belhaven was selected fifth in the preseason poll with 15 points after finishing last season 10-9 overall and 3-3 in CCS play. The Blazers advanced to the semifinals of the CCS Tournament in 2025 and return key pieces, including reigning CCS Rookie of the Year
Harshith Anugonda.
Asbury earned the top spot in the men's poll with 36 points and six first-place votes following a dominant first season in the conference that included both the regular-season and tournament titles. Covenant College was picked second with 29 points, while Piedmont University claimed third with 28 points and one first-place vote.
Maryville placed fourth with 19 points, followed by Belhaven in fifth. Huntingdon (14) and LaGrange (6) rounded out the poll.
CCS Men's Tennis conference play also opens on Saturday, March 7. The top six teams will advance to the 2026 CCS Men's Tennis Championship, scheduled for April 23-25 at the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
