Blazers Fall in Season Opening Weekend at Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. – Belhaven Volleyball opened the 2025 campaign on the road Saturday morning, falling to Hendrix in four sets (17-25, 25-18, 15-25, 14-25) at Grove Gymnasium before dropping their second match of the day against Lyon.

Match vs. Hendrix

After dropping the opening set 25-17, the Blazers responded with a strong second frame. Belhaven battled back to earn a 25-18 victory and even the match at one set apiece.

Momentum shifted back to Hendrix in the third, where the Warriors used a 14-kill effort to pull away for a 25-15 decision. Hendrix then closed the match in the fourth with a 25-14 win. Belhaven finished the match with 34 kills while Hendrix tallied 47 kills.

For the Blazers, Kylarr Martin led the attack with 11 kills while Megan LaCour added eight kills and a service ace. White contributed seven kills and Cami Davis chipped in three kills and a block assist. Setter Madison Butler dished out 14 assists and picked up six digs, while Jade De La Torre anchored the defense with a team-high 17 digs.

Match vs. Lyon

Belhaven fell in straight sets to Lyon in their second match of the day but with all three sets closely contested. Lyon took a tightly contested opening set 25-20 with Belhaven not able to overcome a 5-0 deficit.

After dropping the second set 25-18, the Blazers battled Lyon closely in the third set once again and fell by just a five point margin. Belhaven held control early in the final set but a mid-set run would prove to be the difference.

Megan LaCour and Tarryn Woodall led the way with five kills each while Miriam Ateca provided seven assists. LaCour and Ateca would pace the Blazers in digs with nine and six respectively.

Next up for the Blazers is a trip to the Lone Star State for a tournament hosted by East Texas Baptist University. The Blazers will open a four-match set with a battle against UMHB on Friday at 1:00 PM.
