MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Belhaven Softball team opened up their week at the CCS Tournament with a 4-0 shutout victory over the No. 3 seed Maryvlle College Scots. The win propels Belhaven into the tournament semifinal with a chance to punch their ticket to the CCS Championship Round for a third straight season.
Conference Player of the Year
Ellie Jones continued her stellar season with a solo home run in the bottom of the 1st inning to open the scoring in the contest, her 13th home run of the season. That 1-0 lead for Belhaven would hold for three innings before Belhaven was able to tack on two more runs in the 5th.
Reagan Bryan drove in a run with a productive fielder's choice before
Ellie Williamson made it a 3-0 Belhaven lead with an RBI single to right field. Belhaven's offense would pick up one more insurance run in the 6th as
Ellie Jones drove an RBI double to right center field making it a 4-4 day for the senior.
In the circle,
Macy Funderburk was sparkling in the circle, going the distance in the complete game shutout and racking up four strikeouts. The complete game shutout was the first of her season and the ninth complete game overall for the sophomore.

Belhaven will now square off against top seed Huntingdon in a winner's bracket semifinal on Friday. The winner will advance directly to the conference championship round on Saturday. First pitch against the Hawks is set for 11:00 AM.
