WILMORE, Ky. - The Belhaven Baseball team opened up their final conference series of the regular season on Thursday with a 5-2 win over Asbury that saw another strong performance from
Kade May on the mound and early offense.
Belhaven got the scoring started early on Thursday, plating a pair of runs in the top of the 1st inning as
Tristan Pearson drove in the opening run of the game before
Nick Thornton delivered an RBI single.
In the 2nd,
JD Weed pushed across another run for the Blazers with an RBI hit, followed quickly by a run-scoring single from
Hunter Harrell as the Blazers' offensive efficiency continued.
Kade May would keep the Asbury bats quiet for the first six innings of the game, building off the fast start by his offense.
Asbury pulled two runs back on a home run in the 7th but the combo of May and
Lane Alack quickly slammed the door on any potential comeback bid. The Blazers tacked on a run in the 9th to solidify the series opening victory.
