JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Softball team stayed perfect at home this season and improved to 26-7 on the year with a doubleheader sweep of Maryville on Senior Day at Jim McLeod Field. The Blazers had to come from behind in both contests but picked up a pair of pivotal conference wins on the day.
Game One (W, 6-4)
The Blazers fell behind in the opening game of the day as the visitors put up four runs in the 2nd inning to take an early lead. Belhaven would start chipping away quickly though, first by plating a pair of runs in the 2nd thanks to a pair of RBI hits from 
Madi Miller and 
Ellie Jones.
A bases loaded ground ball from 
Lauren Dunbar pulled Belhaven within one before the Blazers took the lead in the 5th on heads up baserunning from 
Sarah Stockstill who scored from second base on a ball that stayed in the infield. 
Colby Hollinger gave Belhaven the lead with a sac fly in the 6th before an RBI double from 
Reagan Bryan gave Belhaven an extra bit of insurance.
Macy Funderburk came in as a relief pitcher in the 3rd inning and was stellar, throwing five shutout innings and striking out seven en route to the victory.

Game Two (W, 7-5)
It was Belhaven who took the lead in the second game of the day as a pair of Huntingdon errors allowed 
Madi Miller to score in the 1st inning. Maryville would hit back though in the 3rd, with a three-run homer to take a 3-1 lead. RBI hits from 
Colby Hollinger and 
Reagan Bryan evened the game back up in the 5th but Maryville restored their two run advantage plating a pair of runs in the 6th.
A two-run homer from 
Ellie Williamson kicked off a four-run bottom of the 6th by tying the game at 5-5 before 
Anna Caime and 
Colby Hollinger drove in a run each to seal the two-run victory.

The wins give Belhaven sole control of 2nd place in the CCS standings with just two weeks to play. The Blazers sit at 26-7 overall on the year and are 12-2 in conference play. Next up for the Blazers is a trip to Kentucky as they square off against Asbury in their final series of the regular season.
