MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Belhaven Softball team split a doubleheader against No. 9 Huntingdon on Friday in a matchup of two of the top 15 teams in the nation. The Blazers bounced back after a 4-2 defeat in the opener to take the finale 7-4 over the hosts.

Game One (L, 2-4)

The Blazers dropped the opening game of hte doubleheader in a tight pitcher's battle. Belhaven struck first with an RBI double in the 2nd inning by Maci Baldwin. Huntingdon would answer in the home half of the inning before plating two runs in the 3rd to take the lead.

After the Hawks scored once more in the 4th, the Blazers tried to rally late, threatening in the 5th and picking up another run on an RBI single from Reagan Bryan but ultimately coming up short.

Game Two (W, 7-4)

Belhaven bounced back in the second game of the day with a big first inning, plating three runs in total including two on an RBI triple from Anna Caime. Belhaven tacked on two more in the second as Ellie Williamson delivered an RBI double before Caime grabbed her second RBI hit of the day.

Huntingdon would get back with in a run as they scored four across the third and fourth innings but the Blazers were able to stem the tide and hold onto the lead. The Blazers would grab a pair of important insurance runs as Kennedy Jones picked up an RBI single.

With the win, Belhaven improves to 18-6 overall and 7-1 in conference play so far this season. The Blazers also picked up their second win of the year over an NFCA Top 25 opponent. It will be a quick turnaround for the Blazers who head to LaGrange, Georgia for another conference doubleheader tomorrow. The Blazers will square off against LaGrange in a doubleheader slated to start at 11:00 AM Central.
