JACKSON - Ahead of the Alumni Match, Belhaven Men's Soccer is proud to highlight several alumni who helped shape a storied program during their time on the pitch. The next Blazer to be recognized is Garrett Busby, a midfielder for the Blazers from 2017-21.

Why did you choose Belhaven?
"I felt academically and athletically, Belhaven was the right choice for me. The university and the team felt like a second family and allowed me to be in an atmosphere that allowed me to grow and shape who I am today."

What is your favorite memory from your time as a Blazer?
"Graduating with two degrees. It is an achievement that displayed the work and time was put in the classroom and gave me a foundation for future career endeavors."


What is your best memory as a student-athlete?
"Scoring my first goal in the season opener of my sophomore season and assisting one of my best mates, James Dempsey, in the match against Louisiana College on Senior Day."

What do you miss the most from your time at Belhaven?
"I would say I miss the daily training sessions with the team the most. It's something I look back on quite often, and realize how much time was spent on the pitch and wonder how it flew by so quickly during my time as a Blazer."

How do you stay involved with the game of soccer today?
"IToday, I am heavily involved with Jackson's semi-pro team, Gaffa FC, handling the media responsibilities. While my competitive playing days are over, Gaffa FC gives me a platform to experience the game in a different perspective while still lacing the boots with the team recreationally."
