JACKSON – Belhaven Softball showcased their offensive firepower Tuesday night, blasting four home runs en route to a commanding 7-2 win over Millsaps in the first installment of this year's Riverside Rivalry series. The Blazers improved to 2-1 on the season behind a well-rounded performance both at the plate and in the circle.
Belhaven wasted no time putting runs on the board, capitalizing on a Millsaps error in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The second inning saw the Blazers showcase their power at the plate, launching three home runs from Ellie Williamson, Reagan Bryan, and Ellie Jones and pushing the lead to 4-0.
Lauren Dunbar continued the long-ball assault in the fifth inning, belting a two-run homer to extend Belhaven's lead to 7-1. In the circle, Belle West earned the win, delivering four strong innings while allowing just one run on four hits. She struck out two without issuing a walk while Macy Funderburk followed with three hitless innings in relief.
The win marks the 15th straight victory for the Blazers over crosstown rival Millsaps.
