Blazers Volleyball Splits CCS Home Doubleheader

JACKSON  - The Belhaven Women's Volleyball team wrapped up CCS regular season play with a Saturday doubleheader at Charles R. Rugg Arena, dropping a hard-fought four-set battle to Maryville before rebounding with a dominant sweep of Piedmont in the afternoon match.

MATCH 1: Maryville 3, Belhaven 1
(23-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-17)

Belhaven came out strong against one of the top teams in the CCS, taking the opening set 25-23 and battling tightly in every frame before falling in four sets. The Blazers hit an impressive .269 as a team, totaling 54 kills and 52 digs while pushing Maryville to extra points in the third set.

Megan LaCour powered the offense with 15 kills and 16.5 points, hitting .412 while adding 10 digs and two blocks. Tarryn Woodall continued her strong late-season play, posting 10 kills on a .391 hitting percentage and adding a block assist and six digs. Rylee White tallied nine kills, 2 aces, and 3 blocks for 13 total points, while Maggie Joy Tomlin and Kylarr Martin each added nine kills. Madison Butler led the setting effor with 25 assists and nine digs while Miriam Ateca added 19 assists and two aces.

MATCH 2: Belhaven 3, Piedmont 0
(25-18, 25-13, 25-20)

The Blazers closed out the afternoon in emphatic fashion, sweeping Piedmont to end the regular season on a high note. Belhaven hit .189 as a team, recorded 37 kills, and controlled the pace from start to finish.

Tarryn Woodall led all hitters with a career-high 11 kills, 2 aces, and 14.5 total points, while also adding eight digs and two block assists. Maggie Joy Tomlin followed with eight kills and five digs and Megan LaCour added five kills, two aces, and seven total points.

Rylee White and Cami Davis chipped in four kills each, while White added a block and an ace. Miriam Ateca orchestrated the offense with 15 assists and four aces while Madison Butler added seven assists. Kayla Robinson anchored the defense once again with 25 digs, marking her seventh match this season with at least 20 digs and tying her season-high.

Belhaven (12-18, 7-9 CCS) turns their attention to the final doubleheader of the regular season, hosting Mary Hardin-Baylor and Millsaps next Saturday at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM respectively for senior day.
