ATLANTA, Ga. - The Belhaven Volleyball team wrapped up its Friday night matchup on the road with a 3-0 setback at Oglethorpe inside Dorough Field House. The Blazers were competitive throughout but were unable to maintain momentum in key stretches, falling by scores of 25-17, 25-11, and 25-20.
The Blazers started strong in the opening set, trading points early before a late run by Oglethorpe gave the hosts a 25-17 win. Belhaven couldn't find its rhythm in the second frame, committing seven attack errors as Oglethorpe extended its lead with a 25-11 decision. The Blazers fought back in the third, improving their hitting percentage to .111 and pulling within two points late, but the rally fell short in a 25-20 final.
As a team, Belhaven totaled 23 kills and hit .022 across the three sets while finishing with 33 digs and 10 total blocks.
Megan LaCour led the Blazers offensively with a team-high 10 kills, adding 11 points and four digs on the night.
Rylee White contributed three kills, three block assists, and an ace, finishing with 5.5 total points.
Maggie Joy Tomlin added two kills and two block assists, while
Cami Davis and
Jordyn Crenshaw each tallied a block and a kill apiece.
Madison Butler directed the offense with 13 assists and collected five digs, while
Miriam Ateca added six assists and five digs.
Kayla Robinson anchored the back line with a team-best seven digs, while
Tarryn Woodall added 10 digs and two points from the attack line. The Blazers' front line combined for 10 team blocks, led by White and LaCour with multiple block assists.
The Blazers (9-16, 4-7 CCS) continues their weekend road swing on Saturday with a CCS doubleheader in Georgia, as the Blazers look to bounce back and close out the trip on a high note.
