WILMORE, Ky. -Â The Belhaven Women's Soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw on the road against Asbury on Saturday afternoon.
The Blazers (10-3-3, 5-1-1 CCS) looked poised for another conference victory after controlling the first half, scoring twice before the break.
Micah Benson opened the scoring in the 28th minute with her third goal of the season, capitalizing on a well-placed assist from
Mary McCardle to give Belhaven the early advantage. Less than 10 minutes later,
Lauren Snell doubled the lead with a precise strike in the 38th minute, sending the Blazers into halftime ahead 2-0.
Asbury responded in the second half with a pair of goals to even the match, including the equalizer in the 86th minute, halting Belhaven's six-match winning streak but keeping the team unbeaten over its last eight contests.
Belhaven produced 13 total shots with five on target, led by Benson and
Emma Antonoplos, who each recorded three attempts. Snell added two shots, while
Mia Ganote and
Reagan Nichols also contributed offensively. The Blazers earned four corner kicks and maintained a steady attacking rhythm throughout the match.
In goal,
Addi Roberts played all 90 minutes and made four saves as the Blazers' back line-anchored by Nichols,
Alyssa Wilson, and
Jennifer Neal-held firm against consistent second-half pressure.
The draw moves Belhaven to 10-3-3 overall and 5-1-1 in conference play as the Blazers continue their strong push toward the postseason. The Blazers continue their road trip with a match against Sewanee next Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM.
