JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's Soccer team continued its strong run of form on Wednesday evening with a 2-0 shutout victory over Hardin-Simmons at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
The Blazers struck early and never looked back.
Ciaran Colvin opened the scoring just four minutes into the match, leapt amongst a sea of defenders and headed a well-placed corner kick from
Matt Smith to give Belhaven the early lead.
Ciaran Colvin added his second goal of the night in the 16th minute on an aggressive header 10-yards out, doubling the advantage and giving the Blazers a 2-0 edge they would carry the rest of the way.
Belhaven was efficient offensively, registering eight total shots with five on goal, while controlling possession and limiting Hardin-Simmons' looks in the attacking third. Defensively, the Blazers were organized throughout the night, with
Danny Bahena recording five saves to earn his third consecutive clean sheet and the 15th of his career.
With the win, Belhaven improves to 9-3-4 overall and extended their home unbeaten streak to five matches. The Blazers have a few days off before hosting Covenant this Saturday in a rematch of the 2024 CCS Men's Soccer Championship. Kickoff is set for 4:30 PM.
