JACKSON - The Belhaven Men's and Women's Tennis teams began their 2025 seasons in style on Friday afternoon, cruising past Coastal Alabama Community College-North to each open the season 1-0. The Women won 5-1, while the Men shut out the Coyotes, 9-0.
On the Women's side,
Ally Everett and
Lillian Williams cruised to an 8-1 win in the No. 1 Doubles.
Millie Gallarno and
Evey Moore won their doubles matchup, 8-0, to secure both opening points for the Blazers.
In singles action, Moore picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 1 match, and Gallarno continued her strong debut for the Green and Gold with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 Singles. Williams defeated her counterpart, 6-1, 6-0, to secure a fifth win for Belhaven.
For the Men, Belhaven opened doubles play with three wins. The No. 1 Doubles duo of
Mark Matviiev and
Maximo Estrada won their matchup, 8-4, while
Jesus Diaz and
Josiah Leggett earned an 8-3 victory in the No. 2 Doubles.
Hayden Lassiter and
Briley Oakes downed their opponents, 9-7, to complete the doubles sweep.
Estrada picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win to earn the No. 1 Singles point, and
Harshith Anugonda began his Belhaven career with a 6-1. 7-6 victory in the No. 2 match. Diaz won his individual matchup, 7-6, 6-2, and
Mark Breedlove earned the No. 4 point with his victory.
Lassiter dominated to the tune of a 6-1, 6-1 win, while Leggett picked up the ninth Blazers' win to secure an impressive season-opening win.
Both teams will return to Parham Bridges next Friday for a pair of matches against East Central Community College and Meridian Community College. Start time is set for 1:00 PM.
