LONGVIEW, Texas - The Belhaven Volleyball team fell in Tuesday's night midweek contest at LeTourneau by a final of 3-0.
The Blazers were able to create some separation midway throught the opening as a block from
Kylarr Martin and
Rylee White gave Belhaven a 13-11 lead. The hosts responded to even things up at 15, but Belhaven regained the lead at 18-17 after getting back-to-back points.
LeTourneau went on an 8-3 down the stretch to take the highly contested first set. The Yellow Jackets used that momentum to jump out to a 10-2 lead in the second set before cruising to a 25-10 victory.
Despite falling behind 11-2 in the third set, Belhaven fought back to within two following a service ace from
Miriam Ateca. The Blazers took their first lead of the set late at 22-21 and once again went up 23-22, but the Yellow Jackets stormed past with the set's final three points to win the match.
Megan LaCour led Belhaven with eight kills.
Miriam Ateca recorded three service aces on the night.
The Blazers will return to CCS play this Saturday when they take on Maryville and Piedmont in the first league tri-match of the year. First serve at Jackson Prep against the Scots is set for 12:00 PM.
