MT. BERRY, Ga. - The Belhaven Men's Soccer team suffered a heartbreaking defeat over the weekend as they fell 1-0 at Berry College to a 90th minute winning goal from the hosts.
On the second day of a back-to-back, the Blazers had a tough test in front of them against the Vikings. Coming off of a thrilling 5-0 victory over Berea on Saturday, the Blazers would look to outlast the hosts and stay unbeaten on the year.
The play was even for the majority of the match with both sides creating a few chances but unable to break the deadlock. As the game wore on, the Blazers found themselves in a tough spot after a red card forced Belhaven to 10-men for the final quarter of an hour.
The shorthanded Blazers held a stifling back line up until the 89th minute where they conceded a late goal by Berry's Jack Raulston which handed Belhaven their first defeat of the season and ended their shutout streak at 528 minutes.
The Blazers look to bounce back this week as they travel to a neutral site to face the Sewanee Tigers. The game will take place in Vestavia Hills, AL, and will be played at Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex. Kickoff against Sewanee is set for 3:00 PM.
