ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Belhaven Softball team punched their ticket to the St. Louis Regional Final with a commanding 7-2 victory over Greenville.
The Blazers' bats got off to a hot start in the top of the second as
Mary Moore Widemire connected on an RBI single to give Belhaven the 1-0 advantage. Shortly after,
Madi Miller would drive in a run on an RBI groundout to give the Blazers a 2-0 lead.
Kennedy Carruth brought the momentum in the following inning, delivering a solo shot to left center field to extend the lead to three.
Anna Caime added on with a two run homer later in the inning to open up the Blazer lead. The Panthers responded in the fourth, driving in two runs to make a dent in the lead.
Unfazed, the Blazers would add two more insurance runs in the sixth to take a 7-2 lead. Carruth continued her dominance in the circle, allowing just four hits and two runs while having eight punchouts to close the door on the Panthers and advance to Saturday's regional championship.

The Blazers will look to clinch another Super Regional appearance as they await the winner of the tonight's 4:00 PM elimination game tomorrow at 11:00 AM. Belhaven is in the driver's seat and needs only one win to clinch the regional title.
