BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Belhaven Baseball team fell in their midweek matchup at Birmingham-Southern on Tuesday by a 6-4 final score.
The hosts took an early lead in the contest, picking up a pair of runs in the bottom of the 1st. Belhaven answered by pulling a run back in the top of the 2nd on an RBI infield single from
Eli Britt and then eventually tied the game in the 5th on an
Owen Abney sacrifice fly.
Belhaven would find themselves in front in the 6th as
Noah Foster took advantage of an opportunity on the base paths, swiping home and grabbing his team-leading 22nd steal of the season. The Blazers lead was short-lived as Birmingham-Southern scored twice in the bottom half of the same inning, restoring their one-run lead.
Late in the contest, the Blazers got back level as they plated a run in the 8th but once again, the hosts had a quick answer, scoring twice in the same inning and closing out the win in the 9th.
