Blazers Take Conference Series Over Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Belhaven Baseball team split their Saturday doubleheader at Huntingdon but clinched the weekend series as they made their final conference road trip of the regular season. In what was a long, weather-delayed day, Belhaven took the first game of the day 13-5 before falling 6-5 in the series finale.

GAME ONE

The Blazers took an early lead in the first game of the day, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the 1st thanks to an RBI hit from Preston Conlee. The Hawks would pull back to within a run before weather would delay the game before the middle innings.

After the delay, the Belhaven bats stayed hot, scoring four runs in the 6th inning to take a 6-1 lead. Huntingdon once again got back within a run in the 7th inning but Belhaven pulled away from the hosts thanks to a six-run top of the 8th inning.

Hunter Estes delivered a two-RBI knock in the 4th to tie the game at 2-2 but Huntingdon would once again take the lead across the next two innings. Belhaven tried to claw back, plating a run int he 7th and two in the 8th to once again level the score. Huntingdon though was able to seal the win with a walk-off in the bottom of the 9th.
