LOUISVILLE, Ky. -
Kennedy Carruth of the Belhaven Softball team has been named the Wilson Division III Pitcher of the Week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Carruth was stellar in the circle over the past week for the Blazers going 4-0 across six starts. Across 25.0 innings of work Carruth allowed just eight hits, one earned run and struck out 28 batters bringing her season total up to a Division III leading 134 on the year.
The past week was a historic one for Carruth on an individual level as well as she became Belhaven's all-time strikeouts leader against LaGrange, surpassing the mark of 757 set by Belhaven legend Sarah Burns from 2008-11.
On top of the career record, Carruth threw just the fourth no-hitter in program history, and second of her career, as the Blazers took down No. 12 Huntingdon 4-0 on Friday in what proved to be a series split in the battle of the CCS's ranked teams.
For the season, Carruth is now 15-1 across 19 starts with 12 complete games and six shutouts. The right-hander features a 0.73 ERA and 0.72 WHIP across 106.0 innings with 134 strikeouts and a .154 batting average against.
