JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Baseball team finished off a season sweep of rivals Millsaps on Tuesday 9-3, taking all three games in the 2024 Cowboy Maloney Series. The Blazers have now won the Maloney Series Trophy for five straight seasons and are 12-1 against the Majors over that stretch.
Belhaven got off to a quick start as
Cole Fletcher led off the game with a solo home run, his third homer of the season. Millsaps took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd with a pair of runs that put the Blazers down 3-2.
The Green and Gold jumped back in front in the 5th on an RBI hit from
Owen Abney and a run scored from
Hunter Harrell on an errant Millsaps throw. From there, Belhaven would tack on three runs in the 6th with a pair scoring on a
Tristan Pearson home run. To polish off the win, the Blazers added a run in the 8th and one in the 9th securing the rivalry win.
