MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Belhaven Baseball team fell 13-12 in a high-scoring affair at Rhodes on Wednesday as they played their penultimate non-conference matchup of the season.
Belhaven took an early lead, scoring four in the 1st with an RBI double from
Owen Abney and a two-run homer from
Hunter Harrell. The Blazers then extended their lead in the 2nd with a solo shot from
Eli Britt and a pair of RBI singles.
Despite leading 7-0, the Blazers would see Rhodes quickly claw back level as the Lynx scored seven runs across the next three innings. The two clubs would then trade runs as the long ball continued to work for both teams. With Rhodes leading 9-8,
Owen Abney tied the game with his team-leading eighth home run of the season.
Rhodes pulled in front 13-9 as the game moved to the 9th inning. Belhaven nearly got back level as
Hunter Harrell his second homer of the day, a three-run shot this time to pull Belhaven within a run. However, the Blazers couldn't extend the game in the end.
