JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Softball team swept through their penultimate doubleheader of the regular season on Tuesday as they took down crosstown rival Millsaps 8-0 and 6-1 across a pair of non-conference contests.
GAME ONE
The Blazers jumped out to an early start in the first game, scoring in the top of the 1st on a sacrifice fly from
Madi Miller. Holding the narrow lead into the 2nd, the Blazers blew the game open in the home half of that inning, striking for five runs on seven hits.
Madi Miller and
Kennedy Carruth each delivered two-RBI hits during the offensive outburst.
Belhaven would tack on their final runs in the contest in the bottom of the 3rd as
Allie Gordon delivered a two-run home run putting the Blazers up 8-0.
Kennedy Carruth was sharp in the circle, holding the Majors scoreless with
Belle West coming into the circle in the final frame to close out the win in five innings.
In the win in the first game, the Blazers saw a pair of career records broken as
Allie Gordon became the program's all-time hits leader while
Kennedy Carruth became the program's all-time pitching wins leader.

GAME TWO
In the second game of the evening, Belhaven once again got a fast start, picking up three runs in the home half of the 1st with RBI hits from
Allie Gordon and
Anna Caime.
Belle West got the start in the circle and kept Millsaps quiet and got more run support from the Belhaven offense who added three more runs in the 6th.
Macy Funderburk came into the game in relief and shutout the Majors for three frames while picking up the pitching win on the day. Despite the Blazers being held scoreless in the 2nd half of the game, the early offense and sharp pitching were plenty to seal the win.

Belhaven improves to 32-4 on the season with just one regular season doubleheader remaining. With their eyes on a potential second straight CCS regular season title, the Blazers will host Berea at Jim McLeod Field on Saturday. First pitch against the Mountaineers is set for 12:00 PM.
