JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Tennis teams earned a pair of victories on Saturday as the Men's team dominated LaGrange, 9-0, and the Women's team notched a 5-4 win over the Panthers.
WOMEN
Lily Grace and
Evey Moore set the tone in the No. 1 Doubles match with an 8-2 win over LaGrange's top duo.
Natalie Goggans and
Kendra Williams followed suit with an 8-1 win in the No. 2 match.
Moore earned her second victory with a 6-1, 6-3 win in the top Singles match. Grace dominated her opposition with a 6-0, 6-0 win, while Williams tallied a 6-0, 6-2 victory for the Blazers' fifth win of the match.
MEN
On the Men's side, it was all Green and Gold.
Abraham Gonzalez and
Justin Humphrey continued their dominant start to the season in doubles action, winning 8-0.
Josiah Leggett and
Jesus Diaz picked up an 8-4 win in the No. 2 Doubles match, while
Mark Matviiev and
Mark Breedlove defeated their counterparts, 8-3.
Gonzalez won his second match of the day in the No. 1 Singles by a final of 6-3, 6-1. Matviiev secured a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the No. 2 match, while Humphrey rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 3 match. Diaz and Breedlove each blanked their opponents, 6-0, 6-0.
Hayden Lassiter notched a 6-0, 6-1 win, while
Bernard Jackson knocked off his opponent by a score of 8-1.
Belhaven will travel to Orlando, Florida next week to participate in the Spring Break Tennis Tournament Powered by USTA beginning on Monday.
