Box Score 4 ORLANDO, Fla. - The Belhaven Tennis teams opened up their spring break tournament in Orlando on Monday with matches against Juniata and Susquehanna. Both the Men and Women fell to Juniata on Monday morning but the Men were able to bounce back with a 6-3 victory over Susquehanna to wrap up the day.
WOMEN
The Belhaven Women fell 8-1 to Juniata to open up their week in Florida with
Lillian Williams grabbing the Blazers lone win in the match up. Williams took her singles' match 6-4, 6-4 against Juniata. Williams also provided the Blazers' lone win against Susquehanna later in the day once again winning her singles' competition by a 6-3, 6-3 score line.
MEN
The Men fell to Juniata to open up the day 6-3 with
Abraham Gonzalez helping deliver two of the Blazers' wins. Gonzalez combined with
Justin Humphrey to win the top doubles' match 8-5 while also taking the top singles match 6-4, 6-4.
Mark Breedlove and
Hayden Lassiter also picked up a doubles' win in tiebreak fashion 7-7 (10-3).
The Blazers bounced back later in the day against Susquehanna defeating the River Hawks 6-3. Gonzalez and Humphrey won their doubles' match once again while
Josiah Leggett and
Jesus Diaz also grabbed a doubles' win in the #2 matchup.
Gonzalez took the top singles' matchup once more but was joined by
Jesus Diaz (6-2, 6-2),
Mark Breedlove (6-3, 7-5) and
Hayden Lassiter (6-4, 6-0) in solo victories.
Belhaven returns to action tomorrow as they continue a busy week in Orlando. The Blazers will take on St. Scholasitca tomorrow morning with matches against St. Norbert set for tomorrow afternoon.
