JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Softball team earned a doubleheader split against No. 12 Huntingdon on Friday as
Kennedy Carruth tallied a complete game no-hitter, the second of her career and just the fourth in program history.
GAME ONE
In a battle of the only ranked teams in the Collegiate Conference of the South,
Kennedy Carruth proved the star, dominating the loaded Hawks' lineup. Holding Huntingdon quiet through the opening frames, Belhaven got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd as
Allie Gordon delivered a two-run homer.
Carruth's dominance in the circle kept the Blazers in front before Belhaven doubled their lead in the 6th inning as Gordon delivered an RBI double before a sacrifice fly from
Katie Jo Richardson made it a 4-0 lead.
Notable Performances
Kennedy Carruth (W, 15-1): 7.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 10 K
Allie Gordon: 2-3, HR, 2B, 3 RBI
Mary Moore Widemire: 1-2, 2B, R
GAME TWO
It would prove to be a doubleheader split for the Blazers who fell 8-1 to Huntingdon in the backend of the series. Both teams went scoreless in the 1st inning before picking up a run in the 2nd. After Huntingdon scored in the top half of the frame,
Mary Moore Widemire delivered a solo home run to tie the game. The Hawks would break the game open in the 4th with a seven-running in across six hits. The seven-run lead would be too much to overcome with the Blazers having to settle for the one win.

Mary Moore Widemire: 2-3, HR, RBI
Madi Miller: 1-3, BB
Belhaven sits at 26-4 on the season and 9-1 in conference after Friday's action. The Blazers will be back at Jim McLeod Field on Tuesday as they host crosstown rival Millsaps for non-conference action.
