DEMOREST, Ga. -
Brett Sanchez went the distance and
Hunter Harrell hit his first home run of the season as Belhaven evened the series with a 4-1 win over Piedmont on Friday. The Blazers improved to 12-10 (2-2 CCS) with the win.
The Belhaven bats got going in the opening frame as
Owen Abney picked up his fifth RBI of the weekend with an RBI single to score
Tristan Pearson.
Hunter Harrell led off the second inning with a solo shot to double the Blazers' lead early.
The Blazers' lineup continued to add to the advantage as
Noah Foster delivered a two-run double in the fourth to give Belhaven a 4-0 lead. Four runs were more than enough for Belhaven starter
Brett Sanchez, who retired 11 straight Lions during the middle innings.
Piedmont found the scoreboard in the home half of the ninth with a solo home run, but the game ended fittingly as Sanchez struck out his 14th batter to end it and secure win No. 12 of the Blazers' season.
