JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Tennis teams split their Senior Day matches against Huntingdon on Thursday with the Men's team taking down the Hawks 7-2 while the Women fell 1-6.
WOMEN
The Blazers grabbed their only win of day in the No.1 doubles' matchup as
Lily Grace and
Evey Moore took down their opposition 8-4. Grace and Moore also put up strong fights in their respective singles' matches but weren't able to top their Hawks' opponents.
MEN
A trio of Blazers' Men,
Abraham Gonzalez,
Justin Humphrey and
Tom Borgioli, celebrated their careers at Belhaven on Senior Day and it was a successful afternoon for the Blazers who took down the Hawks 7-2.
Abraham Gonzalez and
Justin Humphrey continue their dominant run as a doubles' pairing winning 8-3 in the No. 1Â doubles match while
Jesus Diaz and
Josiah Leggett won the No. 2 doubles match 8-4.
Gonzalez and Humphrey also won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches respectively for the day along with
Jesus Diaz in the No. 4 spot.
Mark Breedlove and
Hayden Lassiter helped seal the win for the Blazers as Breedlove outlasted his opposition in the No. 5 singles match 7-6, 7-5 while Lassiter won the No. 6 match 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.
Both tennis teams return to action on Saturday, April 13th as they travel to Covenant for conference action. For the Men, it will be the penultimate match of the season while the Women have an extra slate against Agnes Scott on April 19th.
