DEMOREST, Ga.- The Belhaven Baseball team dropped game one of their series against Piedmont 10-5 on Thursday afternoon. 

After three scoreless innings, Belhaven struck first in the fourth with an Owen Abney RBI single to get on the board. Later in the inning, Hunter Estes drove in a run to give the Blazers a 2-0 lead. The hosts would follow up with a run of their own in the fifth to cut the deficit to one. After another run was driven in, the Lions responded with a three run inning in the sixth to grab the lead. Owen Abney continued to be a force for the Blazers as the junior picked up another RBI in the seventh to even the score. Unfortunately, the Piedmont bats caught fire in the bottom of the seventh, scoring six runs to take a 10-4 lead. The Blazers made one last push in the final inning with another Owen Abney RBI, but would come up just short with a 10-5 final.

Hunter Estes: 1-5, 1 RBI

The Blazers will look to bounce back as they continue their series against Piedmont on Friday. First pitch will begin at 5:00 PM.
