LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Belhaven Softball team picked up a pair of impressive run-rule victories over Covenant on Monday, improving to 6-0 in conference play and 22-3 overall on the year.
GAME ONE
The Blazers put up a offensive onslaught in the opening game of the day, taking down the Scots 24-4 behind a 13-run first inning that put the game out of doubt early. The 24 run performance marks the highest single-game offensive output for the team since 2009 when they beat Rust College 28-0.
Belhaven got off to a stellar start in the top of the first with 13 runs including a pair of home runs, a grand slam from
Anna Caime and a three-run homer from
Kennedy Carruth. The Blazers would tack on another run in the second before pouring in six more runs in the third including three on a home run from
Mary Moore Widemire. Adding to their advantage in the fourth and the fifth, Belhaven cruised to a conference win in the first game of the day.Â

GAME TWO
Belhaven got off to a strong start in the second game of the day with a run to take the lead in the first inning. The Blazers then added four runs in the second with
Allie Gordon delivering a big RBI hit in the frame. The Blazers' offense then exploded for seven runs in the third and put the sweep away thanks to a consistent string of hits with five different players tallying RBI knocks.
