BEREA, Ky. - The Belhaven Tennis teams picked up a clean sweep of Berea on Saturday in Kentucky. The Women earned a 6-3 win, while the Men dominated the Mountaineers by a final of 8-1.
WOMEN
The No. 1 Doubles duo of
Lily Grace and
Evey Moore took down their counterparts by a score of 8-6.
Lillian Williams and
Natalie Goggans picked up another doubles victory for the Blazers, 8-6, in the No. 2 Doubles match.
In singles action, Grace won the No. 1 match, 6-4, 6-3.
Kendra Williams added another to the Blazers' tally with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 win in the No. 3 Singles match.
Lillian Williams dominated her contest to the tune of 6-1, 6-1. Belhaven's sixth win of the day came from
Natalie Goggans who won her singles match, 1-6, 7-6(5), 10-7.
MEN
On the Men's side, Belhaven took the top doubles match as
Abraham Gonzalez and
Justin Humphrey combined to win, 8-3.
Jesus Diaz and
Josiah Leggett took care of the No. 2 match, 8-2, while
Mark Breedlove and
Mark Matviiev won by the same scoreline in the No. 3 contest.
Paul Stagger and
Bernard Jackson earned an 8-3 victory in the final doubles match of the day.
Gonzalez cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win in the top singles match, and Matviiev won the No. 3 match, 6-1, 6-2. Diaz blanked his opponent, 6-0, 6-0, with Breedlove taking his contest by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
Hayden Lassiter earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory, while Leggett (8-0) and Jackson (8-1) secured wins in their individual battles.
The Blazers return to action on Thursday, March 28th for Senior Day against Huntingdon. Start time is set for 12:00 PM.
