JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Tennis teams had a full Saturday slate as they took on Maryville College in their Collegiate Conference of the South opener before facing off against Copiah-Lincoln Community College later in the day.

WOMEN

It was a tough Saturday for the Belhaven Women who fell to Maryville 8-1 in the morning match and then were beaten 9-0 by Co-Lin in the afternoon. Against the Scots, Lily Grace picked up the Blazers' victory on the day as she took down her Maryville counterpart 6-3, 6-3. 

MEN

The Men had a strong start to conference play as they took down Maryville 6-3 despite falling to Co-Lin 7-2 later in the day. Against the Scots, Abraham Gonzalez and Justin Humphrey continued their winning ways in doubles action, taking down Maryville's top duo 8-2, while Jesus Diaz and Josiah Leggett also grabbed a doubles win, 8-3, on the day. 

Gonzalez also won his singles match on the day 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 against Maryville's top individual. Jesus Diaz won his solo match 6-3, 6-4 while Mark Breedlove took down his opposition 6-1, 6-4. Rounding out the win for Belhaven against Maryville was Hayden Lassiter who grabbed a singles win 6-1, 6-1.

Belhaven returns to action on Saturday as they take on LaGrange at Parham Bridges Tennis Center. The home matches are set to start at 1:00 PM.
