Box Score 4 ORLANDO, Fla. - The Belhaven Tennis teams wrapped up their trip to The Spring Break Tournament hosted by the USTA on Thursday competing in a pair of matches against Loras College and the University of Scranton. Both teams fell to Loras in their morning matches but the Belhaven Men bounced back to take down Scranton in the evening.
WOMEN
The Blazers fell to Loras College 9-0 in their opening match of the day despite a tough battle from
Evey Moore in her No. 2 Singles match where she fell by a narrow 6-4 scoreline in the second game. Belhaven would then fall to Scranton to close the day, 8-1, with the lone victory coming from
Lily Grace and
Evey Moore taking the No. 1 Singles match 8-6, an impressive win.
MEN
Despite a loss to Loras College to open the day for the Belhaven Men, the Blazers bounced back for a strong 7-2 victory over Scranton to close out their week in Florida. Belhaven swept through the Doubles' matches with
Abraham Gonzalez and
Justin Humphrey combining to take the No. 1 match 8-6 while
Jesus Diaz and
Josiah Leggett took the No. 2 match 8-3.
Mark Breedlove and
Hayden Lassiter made it a clean sweep in doubles action with an 8-1 victory in the No. 3 match.
Gonzalez would pick up victory in the No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-4 while
Jesus Diaz won the No. 3 singles match 6-3, 6-2.
Hayden Lassiter grabbed a tightly contest No. 5 singles match while
Josiah Leggett picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory in the final singles match.
Both Belhaven teams will have a weekend off before returning to conference play next Saturday when they take on Berea.
