Softball Stays Unbeaten at The Spring Games

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Belhaven Softball team wrapped up their trip to Florida on Wednesday and finished off their four game stint at 'The Spring Games' undefeated taking down SUNY Geneseo and Simpson.

GAME ONE

The Blazers took down SUNY Geneseo 8-2 in their opening game of the day thanks to a late offensive surge. It was Belhaven who took the early lead behind a pair of runs in the 1st inning including a solo home run from Kennedy Carruth.

Geneseo answered right back with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the same frame and the two teams would remain tied at 2-2 through four innings of play. In the 5th, the Blazers put together a big inning, striking for three runs including a pair on an RBI triple from Madi Miller. Miller then drove in two more runs in the 6th to put Belhaven up 7-2 with an extra run in the 7th to polish off the victory.

GAME TWO

Belhaven picked up victory in their final game in Florida and made their trip a perfect 4-0 by taking down Simpson 4-3 in the midday contest. It was Simpson who jumped out in front early picking up a pair of runs in the 2nd inning and another run in the 3rd frame.

With the Blazers down 3-0 after the top of the 3rd, the bats got going, scoring all four runs of the game in the bottom of the 3rd. Natalie Parker delivered an RBI hit to bring the Blazers within one before a throwing error on Simpson tied the game later in the inning. Parker would then come around to score the winning run on a wild pitch and seal victory for the Green and Gold.

The Blazers will have a quick return to action as they travel to Georgia on Thursday to open conference play against Wesleyan. First pitch against the Wolves is set for 3:00 PM Eastern.
