PEARL, Miss. - The Belhaven Baseball team took down Rhodes College on Tuesday, 9-5, as the two programs squared off in midweek action.
After a clean inning from
Caleb Menard who got the start on the mound in the bullpen game, the Blazers struck first as
Owen Abney drove in the opening run of the game with an RBI single. Belhaven then tacked on three more runs in the second as
Cole Fletcher scorched a ball to straight away center field for a three-run homer, his first of the season.Â
Rhodes answered back with three runs in the third but
Colton Sylvester kept the Lynx bats quiet in the fourth before the Blazers broke the game open in the bottom half of the frame with a five run inning highlighted by a two-RBI hit from
Noah Foster.Â
While Belhaven would be held quiet offensively for the remainder of the contest, the lead would be more than enough as the Blazers grabbed their first midweek victory of the season.
Notable Performances
Colton Sylvester (W, 2-0): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 K
Cole Fletcher: 2-4, HR, 2B, 3 RBI

With the win, Belhaven improves to 6-4 on the season with a trip to Georgia and the Berry Invitational on the horizon. The Blazers will open up their weekend slate on Thursday as they take on Oglethorpe with the game scheduled for a 3:00 PM first pitch.
