DEMOREST, Ga. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team is headed to the Collegiate Conference of the South Championship on Saturday after they booked their spot with a 1-0 win over Piedmont in Wednesday's semifinal.
Despite the match being scoreless at the half, it was the Blazers who dominated the opening 45 minutes with 13 shots and six on target while holding the hosts without an attempt at goal. The second half would be more even but it would also see the Blazers get their goal.
Nneka Udeh would put Belhaven in front in the 57th minute with an assist from
Jenny Satcher and her tally would mark the difference in the match. Udeh's goal was her 8th of the season as her stellar first-year campaign for the Blazers continues.
Ahead with half an hour to play, the Blazers defended well despite mounting pressure from Piedmont to pick up their victory and advance to their first ever CCS final.
Belhaven is now set to face CCS No. 1 seed and regular season champion Maryville in the final. The CCS Championship is set for Saturday, November 9th in Maryville, Tennessee with kickoff slated for 1:00 PM Central.
