MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team saw their 2024 season come to a close on Saturday in the final of the CCS Championship Tournament with a close 1-0 defeat to Maryville.

It was a tough test for the Blazers, who upset the No. 2 seed Piedmont to advance to Saturday's final against top seed Maryville. The first half was stingy, with both teams conservative in the opening minutes of a championship final. 

In the first half, the Blazers tallied two shots with one on target which was the only on frame attempt for either side in the first 45 minutes. The match would be scoreless at the break and on the other side of the half, it was the hosts who found the opener with a 47th minute goal.

Belhaven continued their battle to find the equalizer and forced Maryville into a trio of second half saves but the Scots would hold on for the victory. The Blazers finish the season 13-6-1 overall which matches their win total from a season ago.

Midfielder Macy Mathers as well as rookie forward Nneka Udeh represented the Blazers on the CCS All-Tournament Team for their performances across the Blazers' three tournament matches.
