ROME, Ga. - Ten members of the Belhaven Football team were named as USA South All-Conference selections as announced by the league on Wednesday. The Blazers featured four first team selections, four second team selections, one honorable mention and one member of the All-Sportsmanship team.
Wyatt Beck was named to the All-USA South First Team as a linebacker, the first all-conference selection of his career. Beck finished with a league-leading 89.0 total tackles and 60 solo efforts in what was a career-year for the Baton Rouge native. The junior also racked up 11.0 tackles for loss with 3.0 sacks as well as two interceptions, a forced fumble and a blocked kick. Earlier this week, Beck was also named as Belhaven's nominee for the C Spire Conerly Trophy through the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.
Jimmy Byrd was named to the All-USA South First Team as a defensive lineman, earning the first all-conference nod of his career. Byrd put together a strong sophomore campaign with 45 total tackles including 9.0 tackles for loss and a team-leading 6.0 sacks. Byrd set new career-highs in all three of the aforementioned categories and also closed the season well, with a tackle for loss in each of the Blazers' last five games and a sack in the last four.
Icarius Hodgin was named to the All-USA South First Team as a safety, receiving his first ever all-conference selection. Hodgin finished the season with 39.0 tackles while also leading the Blazers with three interceptions. Hodgin also broke up five passes setting career-high marks in passes defended and total tackles.
Constantine Hontzas was named to the All-USA South First Team as a place kicker, earning his second All-USA South selection and third overall All-Conference selection (All-ASC in 2021). Hontzas led the USA South with 14 made field goals which also set a new single-season record for the Blazers. The senior kicker also became Belhaven's all-time made field goals leader following a three field goal performance against LaGrange in the final home game of the season.
Jacobey James-Grace was named to the All-USA South Second Team as a wide receiver, the second time he has earned All-USA South honors. James-Grace finished his senior season with a career-year as he set new career-highs in receptions, yards and receiving touchdowns. The Louisiana native hauled in 35 catches for 479 yards and seven touchdowns, all marks that led Belhaven this season.
Micheal Anderson was named to the All-USA South Second Team as an offensive lineman, the first All-USA South selection of his career. The Blazers' center took over as the starter this season following the graduation of All-Conference center
Jeremiah Buenrostro after last season. Anderson helped provide continuity and success on the Blazers' interior line which also saw Belhaven lead the USA South in rushing yards for a third straight season.
Gabe Rankins was named to the All-USA South Second Team as an offensive lineman, his first career All-USA South selection. Rankins took over as the Blazers' starting left tackle this season following the graduation of All-Conference tackle
Cole McAlpin and like the aforementioned
Micheal Anderson, helped lead the Blazers to a strong season with a successful ground game that was the top overall unit in the USA South.
Dee Gray was named to the All-USA South Second Team as a cornerback after earning All-USA South honors and All-Region honors a season ago. The Blazers' corner had another strong campaign, finishing with a league leading 14 pass break ups, which ranks as the second most in a single-season for the Blazers. Gray also hauled in two interceptions while contributing three tackles for loss on the season.
Josiah Raymond was named as an All-USA South Honorable Mention, the second All-USA South selection of his career. The senior safety finished third on the team with 50.0 total tackles while racking up 4.0 tackles for loss on the season and grabbing an interception. Three of his four tackles for loss came in the final three games of the season.
Cooper Tullo was named to the All-USA South Sportsmanship Team in his final season with the Blazers. The senior wide receiver hauled in 26 catches this season, a career-high, for 269 yards and two touchdowns while also serving as a kick returner and punt returner for the Blazers.
