JACKSON - The Belhaven Men's Soccer team is headed back to the Collegiate Conference of the South Championship Final for a second straight season following their 4-1 victory over Asbury in Saturday's tournament semifinal.
It would be Asbury who took the lead over the Blazers early in the semifinal with an 11th minute goal. Belhaven would get their answer though in the 26th minute as a giveaway from an Asbury goal kick that was won quickly by the Blazers.
Courtland Williams then put the ball into the box for
Wesley Bloodworth to chase and head home for Belhaven's equalizer.
Bloodworth's goal would have the game even heading to the halftime break with all to play for in the second half. On the other side of the halftime interval, the momentum would be all in favor of the Blazers.
Belhaven took the lead for the first time on a free kick from
Matthew Farias in the 49th that
Courtland Williams headed home for his 4th goal of the season. Belhaven would then double the lead in the 53rd minute as
Igor Rudolph curled a free kick inside the post from 30 yards out.
The Blazers would cap off the win with a 65th minute goal from
Ciaran Colvin who won the battle in the box to tap home a strong delivery from
Samuel Hadley. The win marks Belhaven's 11th of the season and sets up a rematch of the 2023 CCS Championship between the Blazers and top seed Covenant.
Belhaven will take on the Scots on Saturday, November 9th in Lookout Mountain, Georgia with a conference title on the line. Kickoff against the Scots is set for 1:00 PM.
