LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Belhaven Volleyball team improved to 4-0 in conference play on Thursday as they took down LaGrange in straight sets on the road and completed the season sweep of Panthers.
The Blazers, who are off to their best ever start in CCS play, got a strong start on Thursday taking the first set 25-20 and only got stronger as the match wore on. After leveling the opening set at 10-10, the Blazers took the set lead and never lost control.
In the second set, Belhaven took down the Panthers by a 25-18 scoreline despite trailing 6-2 in the early points. In similar fashion, once the Blazers took control in the middle of the set, they held control throughout and cruised to the 2-0 lead.
The final set of the night was the most dominant for the Blazers with Belhaven taking control early. Trailing 8-7, the Blazers went on a five-point run that gave them the lead and helped them pull away to win the set 25-14.
Ten different Blazers recorded kills in the victory and five tallied five kills or more against the Panthers.
Rylee White led the way with eight kills on the night and recorded a .500 kill percentage.
Aniyah Tompkins provided 18 assists on the night while also recording four service aces.
Kayla Robinson,
Jade De La Torre, and
Megan LaCour all finished the night with double-digit digs.
Belhaven has now won five of their last six matches and sit just one game under .500 overall this season. They will have a quick turnaround as they head are set for a conference double-header on Saturday as they take on Asbury and Agnes Scott in Decatur, Georgia.Â
