JACKSON - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team picked up a massive result on Saturday, taking down Covenant by a score of 3-1 at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium. The Blazers finish the regular season with a record of 11-5-1 (5-2-1 CCS).
Belhaven set the tone early as
Ally Davis scored for the fourth time this season in just the fourth minute to fire the Blazers ahead. The Green and Gold continued to stay in control early in the ninth minute with a nice finish just outside of the box from
Micah Benson.
Covenant cut the Blazers' lead in half with a score right before the first half buzzer sounded to make things 2-1 in favor of Belhaven. With the Scots looking for the equalizer, the Blazers' backline stood tall against a couple of scoring chances.
In the 67th minute,
Kaci Craft delivered the separation the Blazers needed as she converted from the spot to extend the Belhaven lead back to two after
Jenny Satcher was fouled inside the box. The Blazers held steady over the final 20 minutes of action to secure a 3-1 win over the Scots in front of the home crowd.
After Saturday's results, Belhaven will await their final seeding for the upcoming Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament.
