JACKSON - The Belhaven Men's Soccer team cruised past LaGrange, 7-1, on Saturday at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium. The Blazers conclude the regular season on a four-match winning streak while finishing with a record of 10-3-4 (4-1-1 CCS).
Belhaven wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as
Courtland Williams scored in the fourth minute to put the Blazers in front.
Wesley Bloodworth finished a cross from Williams in the 13th minute to extend the lead in the early going.
Jeremy McDaniel got into the scoring parade with his first career goal in the 38th minute after heading in a free kick. Just two minutes later,
Ricardo Flores found the back of the net to give the Blazers a 4-0 lead into the halftime break.
Bloodworth notched his second goal of the match in the 58th minute with a header off of a corner kick.
Adrian Sanchez added a sixth for the Green and Gold in the 67th minute.
The Panthers avoided the shutout with a goal in the 79th minute, but a sixth Blazer entered the scoring column as
Rabby Kipito capped off the offensive onslaught with Belhaven's seventh goal of the match in the 86th minute to stamp the 7-1 scoreline.
The seven goals marked a season-high for the Blazers, and it was the most goals scored in a match since a 7-3 win over MUW on October 14, 2017.
With the win, the Blazers secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament. As the No. 2 seed, Belhaven will get a bye to the Semifinals where they will host the highest advancing seed from the Quarterfinal round next Saturday, November 2nd.
