MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Belhaven Men's Soccer team used two first-half goals to defeat Huntingdon, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Samford Soccer Complex. With the shutout, the Blazers picked up their fifth clean sheet of the year.
From the start, the Green and Gold went on the attack with several shots on target in the opening minutes of play. The Blazers found the back of the net in the 24th minute when
Igor Rudolph second goal of the season.
Just two minutes later, Belhaven struck again as
Samuel Hadley beat the Hawks' keeper to double the Blazers' lead in the 26th minute.
A stifling defensive effort by the Blazers held Huntington to just one shot on goal in the second half as Belhaven secured the 2-nil road victory to improve to 2-0 in CCS play.
Belhaven was in firm control throughout, firing 32 total shots (15 on goal) while limiting the Hawks to just four total shots (three on goal).
The Blazers return to the home pitch this Saturday, October 5th for a match against league newcomer Asbury. Kickoff between the Blazers and Eagles is set for 7:30 PM.
