MACON, Ga. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team bounced back after Wednesday's close defeat against Piedmont with a dominant conference victory over Wesleyan on Thursday. The Blazers took down the Wolves 8-0 in a win that makes Head Coach Kimberly Harrell the winningest coach in the program's history.
Belhaven was dominant from the opening kickoff with five shots on goal in the first 10 minutes of the match. However they would have to wait until the 24th minute to get the opening goal when
Jenny Satcher grabbed her 5th goal of the season and put the Blazers up 1-0.
Macy Mathers doubled the lead in the 39th minute with an assist from Satcher and gave the Blazers a deserved two-goal lead going into the break. The second half saw the Blazers find more goals with more pressure as
Lilly Bond scored the first goal of her Belhaven career in the 48th minute.
McKenzee Gregory grabbed the first goal of her Belhaven career as well in the 61st minute to put the Blazers up 4-0 just past the hour mark.
Nneka Udeh kept pace with Satcher's goal scoring pace for the season as she scored her 5th of the season and the Blazers' 5th of the match in the 77th minute.
The final 10 minutes would be marked by a flurry of Belhaven goals started by
Kaci Craft's 4th goal of the year in the 82nd minute.
Mia Kate Cade would score just a couple of minutes later in the 85th minute before
Emma Antonoplos capped off the win with an 8th goal in the 86th minute.
The win improves the Blazers to 8-4-0 on the season and 3-2-0 in conference action. Belhaven's trip to Georgia will wrap on Saturday as they take on Agnes Scott in conference play.
