BEREA, Ky.- The Belhaven Women's Basketball team dropped their CCS road match against Berea 76-58.
The Blazers hung with the Moutaineers in the opening minutes, trailing 8-6 at the 6:30 mark. Belhaven began to struggle as Berea mounted a 9-2 run to grab the advantage and would trail entering quarter two 22-13. Much to the avail of Belhaven, Berea continued to control the game and would extend their lead to as much as 18. The Blazers made a good push at the half as
Venita Williams and
Calise Jackson hit back-to-back free throws to cut the deficit to 11.
In the third quarter, Belhaven continued to struggle to keep up with the fast-paced offense of Berea as the Mountaineers continued to extend the lead. Entering the fourth quarter, the Blazers managed to make a push at the lead as an
Allaijah Gamble three pointer cut the lead to 14. The Blazers unfortunately would come up short, falling 76-58.
The Blazers struggled from the field, only shooting 29.9%.
Ashanti Lipscomb continues to shoot the three well as she led the team in points with 16 off 4-10 shooting from behind the arc.
Xhiir Burgess recorded another double-double with a solid 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Blazers will look to push forward as they travel up to LaGrange to face the Panthers in a CCS matchup on Wednesday, January 24. Tip-off will begin at 4:30
